Nlaka'pamux tradition teaches that this pictograph is the print of a grizzly bear. Bear prints were often painted in sets of two, with the angle between feet and the direction of the paws conveying meaning. The line across the foot differentiates the grizzly print from a black bear print.
This raw wool unisex hat is cozy and flattering for all head shapes. It's very warm. Like most wool pieces, it softens and adapts its fit with time.
Inspired by Nlaka'pamux rock paintings; designed and handknit beside the cliff faces of Lytton, BC.
Made with the permission of Nlaka'pamux elders.
